Jeff Raymond

Jeff Raymond is insired by the folkart tradition of the past.  He has been drawing, painting and carving wood since he was a boy.  Whales have been a fascination for him since he saw his first movie, "Moby Dick" in 1956.   More than 54 summer visits to Nantucket have reinforced his interest in, and enhanced his knowledge of whales and whaling history.  Jeff is an avid collector of anything whaling.  At first, he used boards washed up on the beach for his work and made the art for himself, family and friends.  Now retired he enjoys making them for sale exclusively at Four Winds Craft Guild.  He still prefers to use old wood when possible, from barn, beach or old buildings.  His production is limited and his designs keep evolving.
