I like to think that my past career as an architect has afforded me an unusual method of capturing the powerful beauty of the old-age structures adorning New England’s stunning landscape by precisely drawing the scene before any paint is applied. Indeed, I rely on my drafting table rather than easels for this purpose. In creating these works, I have discovered that the play of light and shadow is critical not only to revealing the three-dimensional aspect of buildings and landscapes, but also to evoking an emotional response from the viewer.
